About him
Friends say I am excellent company. I am looking for a partner who is equally adventurous, open-minded, intelligent, compassionate, humorous and easy-going. Transparency, integrity, tolerance, kindness and patience are the personality traits I put huge store by. I enjoy good conversation and the occasional debate, so a partner with a similar curiosity would be fantastic. For me a successful relationship is a slow burn. Getting to know each other over time, growing together and having fun with the potential for a long term relationship.

Indeed, I have a sensitive side to my nature. I am fair-minded, hating inequality of any kind and prefer to be non-judgemental and tolerant. I am a passionate advocate against injustice and active in supporting Ukrainians driven from their homes. Some describe me as intelligent, but I am also grounded and modest (an ordinary guy who has had some lucky breaks). I am a loving and supportive father, with three adoptive children, one aged seventeen and the other two in their early twenties. Those who know me well describe me as self-effacing, curious, empathetic, good-humoured, intuitive and someone who champions a cause.

Born and raised in Lincolnshire, I grew up on the family farm, and have three younger brothers. Attending a village primary school, followed by a Secondary Modern. I found that the level of education unfortunately didn’t suit my needs focusing as it did on practical skills. I took it upon myself to tutor myself and work to pay for my own O-levels. Following this went on to sixth form college, where studied five A-levels.
Before I went to university, I spent a year working in London for the Social Democrat Party (of its day), as a fundraiser in the Houses of Parliament, which was extremely enjoyable and formative experience. Following this, going to Cambridge University and reading for for BA Hons and MA in Modern History.
The first 15 years of my was spent working for the Ministry of Defence and the Foreign Office, in operational activities. This included a great deal of travel including living in India, Northern Ireland, Greece and the Netherlands; I also worked within the European Commission. In Greece I was 1st Secretary for the 2004 Athens Olympics.
I took a break from work for six years when me and my then wife decided to adopt three young children, as I wanted to be the main caregiver. I returned to work in 2015, this time working in law-enforcement, in particular policy development. My marriage unfortunately
broke down a couple of years ago which initiated me to relocate to the Okehampton, where I still work in a similar role.
