About him
I’m 59, in good physical shape, with a rewarding career as an author - fiction and non-fiction - and good friends. I own a small cottage in Leeds, near parks and the city centre. But I lack a special someone with whom to share weekends, holidays, satirical observations and bad puns. I am a social introvert; I tend not to dominate conversations but I love meeting people. While I can be cautious at times, for example about being late, I have taken risks in my career to be creative, or to commit to something that I believe in - for example doing some pro bono work on human rights.
I have three novels published, best described as romantic comedies. I can speak Spanish fairly fluently, and play the guitar quite badly.
My sport of choice these days is running and, apart from losing to my brother by one second at the Leeds 10k this summer, it’s been a good year. In the past I played a lot of football and cricket. I do parkrun most Saturday mornings, and I enjoy a brunch in Leeds city centre afterwards, then maybe some shopping. I also love wildlife and the countryside, especially rivers and woodland. On holiday I like to alternate between camping and a bit of luxury in a hotel.

I’m looking to meet a woman who’s sensitive, loves books and music, has a sense of humour, and is comfortable with different cultures and points of view. I am at ease with either an extrovert or introvert. In life, I have learned that the most important quality in a relationship is kindness, and the second most is tolerance. Fun and a sense of romance are important too. I quite enjoy a balance between city life - meals out, gigs, art galleries, shopping; and the outdoors life - nature, walking and so on, so a bit of a preference one way or the other in my match is not important. The real deal-breaker for me would be any kind of prejudice or intolerance.
