Hi, I'm Mike. I unexpectedly became a widower last year after 20 happy years together. .
I don't take life too seriously - I have a good sense of humour.

I was a self-employed businessman but I was also in the Royal Observer Corps, a specialist part of the RAF entirely different from the role of the old ROC some people knew of from the WW2 era.. We trained entirely with the nuclear weapons threat.
I like driving to visit places locally, or further afield, coffee/ meals out, picnics , cinema, car boot sales, UK B&Bs -whatever. Visiting old properties. NB National Trust etc., would be fine if a new partner enjoyed that. I have tinnitus due to past jack hammering so I don't like very noisy places now.
.I enjoy walking & do running to stay fit but I don't play much sport now. I'm a bit of a "health nerd", but not obsessed with it. NB I like to eat walnuts, blueberries etc., but I'll still enjoy more traditional food at home, or say, a Chinese meal out.
I watch some TV, comedies, films. documentaries, dramas etc. I've been in several documentaries linked to what I did in the ROC . I talked for a few minutes on a 90 minute main TV channel one that's currently still on the major video-sharing 'Net site, but I I'm not allowed to name it on here.
I helped to build my own 4 bedroom house when I was younger..
Occasionally I play "Scrabble" & put down words that don't exist. NB Justin Trudeau's "I prefer "peoplekind" to "mankind," is a boon. Now I can add "holes" to the word "people" - You know, "peopleholes," - those things we called manholes before the world went completely nuts.
My interests include science, engineering, electronics & reading/writing on the 'Net.
I like most animals & have 2 spoilt cats. My 2 close-up photos on here were taken in 2022. Photos of me normally look OK for passports, but sadly, for little else, LOL.

A pleasant lady with a good sense of humour & that is good at cooking would be ideal, but it wouldn't be a deal-breaker if she wasn't such a great cook.- I'm not a chef. . She could, probably should, have her own hobbies & interests, which needn't be all the same as mine. I'm reasonably romantic. I'm pretty fit & a bit of a "health nut" but a lady that's not very into playing sports would be the best match for me as I'm not a sporty type, but I do a little running most days.
I've been to about 9 countries, but I think I'll be holidaying in the UK mostly from now on. I expect more people will now inflation is rocketing..
Someone that occasionally enjoys cosy nights in, perhaps just watching TV, one that enjoys having meals out in restaurants, pubs etc., ideally enjoys walks etc. Obviously, I can run, but if she had some disability that limits her mobility that would still suit me fine. I have tinnitus. It's annoying, as I can't enjoy going to very noisy places or I'd just get a headache. .I put earmuffs on when I'm using power tools.
Just going out for coffee /meals or such as shopping. picnics, even boot sales etc.. or for day trips or longer away, say, in B&Bs. Visiting National Trust places, or wherever she wanted, would be fine for me. I'm not a great dancer. Be handy if she could drive but not essential. I could probably teach her if she wanted.
