About him
Trying to reinvent myself so I need a female inventor to assist in this project. Good sense of humour welcome. Calm and gentle personality also welcome. Well I tell the Americans, I was born at Hampton Court (but it was in an ambulance at a red traffic light), raised in the Surrey countryside on Lloyd Georges country estate (piggery and nursery for tomatoes and chrysanthemums and lots of trees). Moved to Ilford when Dad got allergic to pollen, while he retrained as a teacher. Moved to Canvey Island as a teenager (only one tree survived the 1953 floods), when Dad got a job as Deputy Head at a brand new school. Brother and I spent our weekends cycling, sailing and exploring the mud flats in Benfleet creek and swimming across to LeighOnSea for fresh cockles, cycled 12 miles to Sweyne School in Rayleigh every day. Married High School Sweetheart, and worked at Lloyds Of London Insurance, 4 hours of train commuting for 18months during 3day week and train strikes. We left UK for Antwerp to work for Westinghouse, joined an amateur theatrical group and produced pantomimes for a very puzzled Belgian audience, and for work I travelled to mines in North Africa and Middle East for a decade Returned to UK, divorced, moved to NY as a computer programmer. I met a lovely Nebraskan and later moved to Alliance, with our 3 young NewYorker sons. Ran a locomotive parts export business for 15 years until 9-11 killed the business. Moved back to UK to run the London Marathon on my 50th and was lucky to have a full year with elderly Mum and Dad. Divorced and stayed on in the UK running an ebay business My 3 lads are married and I have 3 grandkids split between Costa Rica, Phoenix and Nebraska. I have honorary 3 step sons and 3 step grandkids here, from a local 15yr relationship that ended during the Covid lockdown. Hosting a Ukrainian family and Star, 14yr old Staffy and I try to keep fit.
